John Hammond's love for the Algarve region of Portugal led him to found one of the region's first real estate agencies in 1972. John stayed throughout the 1974 revolution and today is widely acknowledged as one of Portugal's leading authorities on Portuguese real estate; often employed as a consultant by major international companies such as Shell International and Bovis.
John's expertise is also considered invaluable to the many private investors he has brought to the Algarve´s most prestigious developments. These include: São Rafael Albufeira, Boavista Lagos, Shell Vilamoura, Quinta do Lago, Tennis project Vale do Lobo and Dunas Douradas. He is proud to confirm that these projects have all generated substantial profits for their new owners. John feels that to give total investment advice one needs to be "close" to the project; being active in all key sectors: land, planning, architecture, building, tourism and, perhaps most importantly, agency activity.
John was selected by the international press to produce an accurate graph of property values in the Algarve over 20 years, from 1973 to 1993. He has since been commissioned to produce an updated graph to the year 2016 and has also contributed to most of the reputable Portuguese real estate market surveys of recent times.
